Following on from the success of Kinokophonography02 and in our continued exploration of an immense, continuously changing and growing archive of sound spores, Kinokophonography03 welcomes field recordists, phonographers and listeners to join us again for an evening of sharing sound recordings, thoughts on making and using recordings and recording techniques.
If you would like to play a recording at this event, please carefully read the following:
Submissions fall into two categories; a general Open Call and a Theme Call specific to this event.
Open Call - Kinokophone would like to invite field recordists and phonographers to submit works of up to 5 minutes in duration for future listening events.
Un-edited recordings or short compilations are welcomed.
The deadline for the Open Call is 15th February 2011.
Theme Call - At each event, the Kinokophonographers vote for a theme to respond to. It is down to each individual on how they choose to interpret that theme in their recording and submit it for the next listening.
The next theme is Food.
The deadline for the Theme Call is 15th February 2011.
Please send works via Dropbox or similar, along with track title, format, length and location where the recording was made and a short statement about yourself to email@example.com.
Works will be carefully selected by the myceli(m)um…

When & Where
Kinokophone collects and composes sounds, stories and imagery from around the world. Kinokophone
take their name from the Japanese word for mushroom. Mushrooms are a product of intricate
connections that lie beyond the surface, with roots in folklore and imaginary worlds, much like the work we produce. In short, our name kinokophone encapsulates what we like to do, which is is to record and communicate ideas with an unaffected sense of wonder for what is growing up around us, unearthing the intertwining connections that lie beneath the surface...
We are a sound and storytelling collective, producing works for installations, sound for documentary films, ethnographic research, oral history projects and anything that we think is exciting and fun!
